Product Description
This up-to-date guide addresses all the subjects you would expect to find in an authoritative book on pregnancy plus issues of special concern to the 60 to 80 percent of women who hold jobs during their pregnancies: · Is my workplace safe for my developing baby? · When should I tell my employer that I am expecting? · How can I handle the discomforts of pregnancy when I need to work? · What laws will prote… More >>

I found the majority of this information available in every other book on pregnancy that I’ve read so far. To top it off when speaking of hospital births and drug free births or natural labors the authors opinion was fairly evident.

I’ve looked at many books at the bookstore and purchased several to see which books provide most pertinent information for working, modern women as they adapt to pregnancy. This book by far offers some of the most relevant, best organized, practical information that I can refer to through each stage of my pregnancy. The anecdotes by other women help you relate to as well as learn from experiences of other women that go through similar dilemmans and challenges in balancing work and life responsibilities during pregnancy. It graciously leaves out some of the very basic information that most women can gain information by simply going to the American Pregnancy Association website (such as basics of nutrition, what is safe/unsafe, vitamins, common discomforts) and sticks to providing you the extra information that actually required further research and data compiliation by the author. It also further offers post-birth tips (i.e. on breast feeding and pumping milk once you return to work, etc.) that will make this book a solid reference guide even after the baby is born. So glad I found this book!

Must have for working women. I’m a health professional so I got this and more detail-oriented book but I prefer to read this more.
It’s very well organized so you can find what you need to look up right away.
It’s so life relevant that you’ll know what to prepare for your baby, yourself and your work! It’s always important not to burn the bridge at work.

Things I like about this book:
It’s full of quotes by real women experiencing pregnancy. What’s great about this is that they are from varied perspectives, and even sometimes contradict each other! Surprise, not all women are the same and not all women experience pregnancy the same way
Another thing is that while this book is directed towards women with outside-the-home jobs, it covers a wide range – teachers, police officers, ad executives and lawyers are all given equal attention.

This is a very good book for women for still need to work during pregnancy. It was very informative. It’s written like you are talking to a girlfriend, but has the information that you would want to hear from a doctor. I recommend this book!
